In this day and age it is more important than ever to obtain the highest levels of productivity from your investment in people who are your most expensive asset. Do you know how much time they are spending on work related tasks and how much time gaming, gambling, on social network sites, in chat rooms or accessing pornography?
Do you know what material is being introduced into, stored and circulated around your computer network?
|
Did you know that the majority of pornography is viewed between the hours of 9am to 5pm.
Organizations bear the responsibility for the welfare of employees and customers alike and are also legally responsible for issues such as sexual harassment or bullying in the workplace.
Denying access to the huge productivity benefits that can accrue to an organization through the use of networked information technology is not an option. |
Companies turn to Acceptable Use Policies (AUP) in an effort to enhance employee productivity, protect themselves from sexual harassment suits, and limit the unauthorized use of bandwidth and storage.
OK, so now you have an AUP in place, how do you monitor and enforce the policies? If there is a violation do you have proof through a clear audit trail or are you relying on the word of one person against another?
Guardware can help. |
|
Guardware has two products for the Enterprise:
- Display your AUP at log in so that people explicitly accept the rules.
- Set different levels of access and authority depending on the user, groups of users, PC location and even time of day or day of the week.
- Block access to categories of web site such as pornography, gambling, social networking etc.
- Monitor words from any source, and in any Unicode supported language, to identify issues such as bullying, sexual harassment or attempts to access confidential documents.
- Monitor images from any source so that inappropriate or illegal imagery is not introduced via CDs, USB’s, and peer-to-peer communication, DVDs, emails or any other source.
- Schedule scans to audit your disc storage for inappropriate images
- Verify disk space usage and file types.
- Categorize applications as “good” or “bad” for the organization and either deny access to certain applications for particular individuals or monitor their productivity based on application usage.
- Manage PC and network usage through statistics on idle time and bandwidth utilization.
- Save energy and reduce your carbon footprint by remotely turning off PCs when not in use.
- Obtain a complete list of hardware, software and file statistics for all PCs across the network, with notifications of changes to the same for audit purposes. This helps to protect against unlicensed software download and PC theft.
- Provide comprehensive reports that create an indisputable audit trail of employees activities should disciplinary action need to be taken.
|
The whole purpose of these facilities is not to catch people, but to make it clear that you will know if they are in breech of your AUP and will have proof should you wish to take further action. This will soon ensure that everyone is “on task” and the organization is not exposed to the lost productivity and legal costs of inappropriate activities.
What does the File Audit Facility do?
File Audit Facility (FAF) it is a quick and inexpensive way of conducting spot checks on PCs within the enterprise including laptops for inappropriate imagery and illegally downloaded music files. The system is pre-loaded on a USB. It can be plugged in to any of your PCs with a USB port. It will scan all the discs connected to that PC and display any suspect images in a viewer. An audit report can also be written to the USB drive for subsequent analysis.
