3. Getting Started With iShield™

3.1 System Requirements

The following technical specifications apply to desktop and laptop computers:

3.2 Downloading and Installing iShield™

You can download iShield™ from either Guardware's Web site (www.guardware.co.uk) or an affiliated distributor's Web site, such as www.vividfish.co.uk. Follow the downloading instructions on the Web site and save the files to your Desktop or location of your choice.

You can get an ISP subscription plan by logging on to your ISP Web site and downloading the latest version of iShield™.

Installing iShield™:

  1. Close all windows on your desktop or laptop.
  2. Run the installer program by double-clicking isetup.exe to install iShield™ on your computer. The iShield™ Setup Wizard appears. See Figure 1.

  1. Click Next. The License Agreement window appears. See Figure 2.
  2. Select "I accept the agreement" and click Next.

Note: If you purchased iShield™ under a subscription plan or scheme, iShield™ will stop scanning on the date shown in the Control Panel, unless you renew your subscription. To renew your subscription, visit your subscription plan holder's Web site.


3.3 Registration

To activate iShield™, you need to register it first. If you have already purchased iShield™, you should already have in your possession a Key Code. If you have not yet purchased iShield™, you may do so from Guardware's own Web site, which can be launched by clicking Buy Now. See Figure 4.

When you have acquired a key code, register iShield™ by doing the following:

  1. Navigate to the iShield™ Control Panel by clicking Start > Programs > Guardware > iShield™ > iShield™ Control Panel. See Figure 4.
  2. In the Guardware iShield™ Registration window, click Register. The Key Code window appears. See Figure 5.
  3. Enter your Key Code. See Figure 5.
  4. Click Register. If the key code is valid, registration is successful and you are asked to enter your chosen password.

Note: Please write down your Key Code and keep it in a safe place. There may be instances, such as the reformatting of your hard drive or the upgrading of your computer, when you will need to reinstall iShield™.
